November 06,2020 A Love Affair with British Art

I am thrilled to present our current collection showcasing the incredible beauty and intricate work of British fine artist photographer Kate Scott.

Kate Scott's work has been celebrated in the Saatchi Gallery and across Europe. She is a talented award-winning photography artist. I initially came across Kate's incredible florals in Italian Vogue. It was an instant love affair with her work.

My journey collaborating and celebrating with British artists began back in 2006 when I first started the Suzannah London brand.

I am drawn to converting fine art onto fine cloth, so it can be appreciated and collected just like the original art, but with a new dimension. When women wear pieces from my collaborative collections, the art is in motion, being taken into new worlds. Enjoyed in new environments. It is a journey in fine art and textiles that still thrills me afresh, to this day.

The floral artwork is translated into textile designs by our in-house designer and then printed onto silks in a responsible mill in Como, Italy. The works are translated onto silk crepe-de-chine and silk twill using the finest standards of digital printing and fabric finishing, so as to achieve the ultimate micro details and intense colour-ways that are as accurate to Kate's original works as possible.

I am immensely honoured to be part of this process and know that the work designed together with ourselves by such talented artists, creates an elevated beauty to those who wear our collaborated pieces. There is a new section on our website https://www.suzannah.com/collections/british-artist-collaborations  where I will showcase the collections.  At present, my new collection with Kate Scott comprises of a beautiful three-piece ball-gown in luxury Italian silk twill, a divine new cut of our tea dress and a pure silk chiffon gala gown.  For the moment the tea dress remains the most popular, being a versatile piece for hosting at home and a piece which can also be elevated with millinery when the time comes again for special events.

My work with British artists is an ongoing endeavour. Next month we are launching new pieces in collaboration with Susannah Garrod, the British  Illustrator, and we are in development for a future project with British multidisciplinary artist Claire Luxton.

And so my adventure in art continues, I truly look forward to sharing it all with you x
